runDisney fall/winter races - Are you in or out?

The races all seem to be closing out right about now!  Why now?  Did everyone just finish their spring racing season and they are really beginning to focus on the fall/winter?  Did your race piggy bank finally burst and you were able to register? Did we all freak out as the percentages climbed above 90% and finally jump over the fence? Did the thought of not being there drive us to do it?  I can think of so many reasons to get registered as soon as possible with the #1 reason being the races are selling out!!!

(The following runDisney.com screen shots were grabbed from the website around noon 5/14.)

Disneyland - Sold Out

Tower of Terror - You still have a little time.

Wine & Dine - half is Sold Out, but you still have some time to register for the 5K.

WDW Marathon Week - Well you can see the numbers...I bet the half is already Sold Out as well!
UPDATE: the WDW Half is now sold out!

So what is your motivation? I know a lot of you are already registered.  I for one will be at Wine & Dine and Marathon Week.  I wish I could be at them all, but New England is a not as close as you may think to Orlando! Now if I could just get a job with the company...

  1. I'd love to go, but if I attended all the things I wanted to at WDW, I'd be bankrupt and homeless....It's so expensive...I can't even swing the 5k right now...But I wish I could...Maybe next year!

    1. Jennifer, I decided this was my all in year...and I bought an AP even though I live in New England. That said I am not going to all of the race weekends. Will do WDW Marathon weekend, Princess and W&D in 2013 thought. When a race weekend closes registration and I did not register it kills me, but I don't have the funds it takes to run them all either. If I lived in the area I would be there in a heartbeat. Anyway everyone needs to figure out what is right for them. Enjoy running where ever you are and there is nothing wrong with participating in a community from a distance. :)

  2. I am running the Wine and Dine Half Marathon as well.
I am debating registering for the Jingle Jungle 5k as well.

    1. Sarah - If I am going all the way to Florida for a runDisney race weekend...I am racing all of the races! That has always been my plan and I am sticking to it! I still have to register for the Jingle Jungle 5k, but I will! See you there x2!

  3. I wanted to run Wine and Dine, but just couldn't pull the trigger. I will DEFINITELY be running it next year with it having anniversary medals. Struggling to decide if I will do WDW marathon weekend this year or next. SO MANY OPTIONS!!!

  4. I am doing Tinker Bell & Dumbo in 2014. I will have to wait for 2015 or later to do anything at WDW. It just gets too expensive flying back and forth from California. I live in the San Diego area so Disneyland is just an hour up the road.

    1. Someday I might make it to DL. So far I have not come even close to registering. I have the opposite coast issue. Have fun at Tink and Dumbo Bobbie!

  6. I am actually relieved to see Jennifer & Bobbie's comment above. I thought I was the only one that wasnt mortgaging their house to go to all of the Disney races LOLOLOLOLOLOL! I seriously do want to go to another Disney race but it may not be until late 2014 or early 2015.. One day I will return!

BTW: Erin, Is there a list somewhere of the "anniversary races"? I am wondering due to Lena's comment above.. Thanks!!

    1. I will let you know if I find an anniversary year bling list Nicole. As for the cost...there is no question they are pricey. For me they are so much for than just a race. The enjoyment I get out of the whole race weekend is worth the price. Everyone needs to apply their own justification and balance the value for themselves. If it is just plain too expensive then that is that. This is my first year doing more than one race a year. I knew I was going to go for it this year and race 3 race weekends so I invested in an AP to reduce the cost for each weekend. You will make it back, I know. It is just too darn fun not to do occasionally!
