Fueling for mid to long runs and races
I am all about my Clif Shot Blocks (@ClifBar). I fuel the same for my mid/long runs as I do for my races. I buy the Margarita blocks by the box. Depending on what I think my needs are I eat 1 block every 2 miles, 20 min, 25 min, or even 30 min.
I start at the first interval and stay consistent across the entire distance. I always drink water with them so I have taken to racing with water bottles. I supplement later in the race with water from the course. I can get through most of a half marathon with my own supplies. It allows me to run consistently since I am not stopping at aid stations.
Another blogger asked me to write this up so I thought I would share it with all of you as well.

I love the Clif Blocks. They're my favorite running fuel as well. I haven't tried Margarita flavor. So far, my favorite is Strawberry with Tropical as a close second. -Christine
ReplyDeleteThe Margarita have extra salt and caffeine, 2 things I need more of on my long runs!
