New Year's Eve Run

Saying goodbye to the runner that I was in 2012 so that I can make way for the runner that I will be in 2013...

2012 was a huge year for me! I ran my first marathon! (and I ran 3 of them)

Simply put it was the year of the marathon!

I don't really want to recount all of my races...there were more than ever before...maybe I will leave that for tomorrow.

The highlight destination races were the Disney Princess Half Marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon.  (I am still working on the MCM posts.)

My last run of 2012!

Today was a quiet day not so much filled with thoughts of 2012, but focused on what is to come!

Since I am only days way for another highlight destination race - WDW Marathon Weekend - today was more about getting organized and getting one more longish run in.  Of course there was weather, snow, traffic, etc. to deal with including actually running on the road.  I do not like running on the road.  You cannot zone.  You must always focus in order to stay safe.  So it was a very draining run.  That said it had its beautiful moments.

The happy little snowman my daughter made greeted me when I left the house!

The roads do not have enough of a shoulder so I always had to be on my toes.

The golf course was looking magical as it greeted the sky and the bay with its blanket of white.

Fishing boats still in the water.

New England churches standing tall.

I only managed to get 10.5 miles in today.  My hopes for one final 20 miler were undone by the snowfall.  I can run 20 miles on my bike path where my mind can wander, my stride is consistent, and I am happy, but right now it is covered with irregular snow and ice.  So my next long runs will be in Florida!  I am flying down on the 9th and can't wait.  I will be at all 3 races having a fantastic time.  I hope to see and meet a lot of my online running buddies.  My plan is to get in one short run on the 9th to get acclimated.  Let me know if anyone is up for running around the boardwalk!

Happy New Year!

Great pictures! I'm leaving for WDW on the 10th. Best of luck to you, maybe we'll cross paths!

  2. I had the same problem...too icy for a long run! I'll be arriving at Boardwalk on the 9th as well! What time do you get there? If we can't meet up for a quick run then I'll be doing all 3 races as well, I'd love to meet up and say hello!

  3. I am with you on the too icy for a long run. I am in northern Minnesota and my long runs are stuck on a treadmill (boring for sure) however I am making it work. Enjoy the marathon weekend. Run well.

I run Tinkerbell in Disneyland on the 20th and can't wait!
