Princess Runs-in-many-layers returns!

There once was a beautiful Princess.  Her name was Runs-in-many-layers.  Every winter she got to do what she loves best...go running.  She was training for a race of the Princesses that happened in a distant kingdom of warmth and sunshine.  To get there she had to run, and run, and run.  Here she is getting ready to start her run this beautiful early afternoon in southern New England.  Since she is training as a running photographer, she brought her camera along so that she could share the beauty with you!

Her beloved bike path was covered in 6 to 8 inches of snow and was more useful to cross country skiers than to a runner without snowshoes.  So Princess Runs-in-many-layers left the ski tracks and headed for the road.

The road led her around peninsulas with amazing views of the bay.  The ducks and birds were as happy with the day as she was.

But why stay on the road when the beach beckons.  So off-road she went.

The water in the inlet looked beautiful reflecting the clouds and the brilliant sun above.

She walked where only her friends had gone before, at least since the last high tide.

That is more than a cold wind making her smile.  It was a magical place to be and she was grateful for the snow, and the sun, and the wind, and being able to run!

The roads were run-able, but messy and more than once a car splashed her, but she did not mind.

She passed by many beautiful houses that she had seen before, and she stopped to say hello to some of them as she passed by.

At other houses friendly greeters stood in the yard to watch her passing.

She followed paths that led to quiet beaches...

...and enjoyed the views.

Before heading back home she stopped to look at her bike path again.  It once carried trains and passengers to and from the city.  Now is carries runners, cyclists, walkers, and dogs.

Speaking of dogs, she grabbed hers and headed back out so she could enjoy a look see at the winter wonderland that the world had become.

Embrace winter and go running!

Welcome to the Tinkerbell bell trials!

HEADLINE: The Bells are a GO!

So I took the costume out for a short spin this morning.  It was not too cold, but I did add a long sleeve shirt and a hat.  The bells were amazing.  Yes they make noise, but no they are not too loud or obnoxious.  They are being sewn onto the skirt tonight.

My girls came out with me to take pictures and shot a little video.  They have another day off school, so we get a long, long weekend!  I don't know if you can even hear the bells on the video.

No, the audio on the camera could not even pick up the bells.  Anyway, if I was talking to someone while running I would not even hear them, but they are there making a happy little ring as I run along on my merry way!

Now I need to consider wings.  To wear them or not to wear them?  I don't really like the ones I have, but I know there are some amazing ones available.  What do you suggest?

Mailman delivers pre-run

So I was getting ready to head out for my run this morning when the mailman delivered the mail.  I finished putting my shoes on and went to get the mail.  There it was...our first communication pertaining to our upcoming trip to WDW and Princess weekend.

Magical Express here we come!
Needless to say it was a great way to start my run this morning.  We have spent the day doing laundry, watching the Olympic marathon trials, and now football.  All in all a great day!

1/2 Goofy at home

So by Friday night I was all wrapped up in the runDisney marathon weekend activities.  Only problem was that I was not in FL, I was in southern New England.  I set out on my evening run and started dreaming right away.  So was it possible?  Could I do a marathon this year?  Could I do the WDW marathon in 2013?  Could I do the Goofy in 2013?  Was about the full Dopey?  Of course I did not have any of the answers on Friday night.  They were all goals that I might or might no be able to achieve.  But I resolved that I would go for it, some or all to be determined.  I need to see what my body can handle.  First I need to run a marathon.  I started dreaming about just going out and doing it.  Crazy eh?  Well that is kind of my style.  So maybe not today, but soon.  And why not just go out and run a Goofy?  Well I am not there yet.

Anyways, I was able to get in 7 miles in the time I had on Friday, so I decided to do a 1/2 Goofy on Friday and Saturday.  Yes, I did make it out for 13 miles yesterday.  My knee did not feel so great afterwards however.  I think I may need to do that building up to it thing.  But I have time.  I just need to get a marathon in this year, preferably before I register for the WDW marathon.  So I have about 3 months right, well until the window opens for registration.

Who's with me?  I know you are!  And congratulations to all the amazing runners who ran at Disney this weekend.  I have loved following you and seeing your photos.  I can't wait to read your full reports and dream about next year!

1-1-2012 New Year & Disney on Ice

So here we all are looking back on the year that was...we ran, we had fun, we went to Disney, we ran Disney!  I think all in all 2011 was a pretty fantastic year.  I wrapped up the year a lot lighter than I began it and feel so much healthier.

Check out my new tights and running hat!  I have gotten in a few runs in  them already!

We picked up some new carry on luggage from my parents.  The bags go into service in February for the Princess half.  Aren't the colors fantastic!

My sister sent me a Disney ladybug key chain cover along with alot of other great gifts.  Thanks sister (she will be with me at the Princess along with our families).
So I was lucky enough to win some Disney on Ice tickets from my favorite Disney Mom's Panel Mom Ritzy.    She had posted a random give away for the show it town and I was one of two families who won.  So this fine New Years day we headed to the Duncan Donuts Center for the show.

The whole family went!  Guess who the photographer was?

Here he is, my favorite Duck - Mr. Donald himself!

and the main mouse couple - Minnie and Mickey.

A little under the water action.

These ladies know how to dress for a workout!

Sebastian was a childhood favorite!

The ticket lady herself - Disney Mom's panel presents Ritzy - She is in the know when it comes to all things Disney!
Just try her, go ahead ask her a question on the panel.

You know a few of these folks...

When you feel tired while racing just look for your shadow.
Maybe she will give you the extra energy you need to see you through.

They really could fly!

Hook found Peter's house - Oh no!

Run Tink run!  Taking costume notes from the pros.  (I start to sew my costumes tomorrow!)

They really should use some of these inflatables course side at the runDisney races.

Success!  Let us all raise a sword aloft as we cross the finish line.  Each of us will slay the course!
So as we start a new year, I have registered for 5 races so far this year and done my first run.  It was wonderful to see all the new years resolution runners out this morning.  There was a lot of great looking new running gear on parade and the day was beautiful.  I was out in my tights and long sleeve (no coat, hat or gloves).  I love the snow, but I also love great running weather.  Princess weekend will be here before we know it!  Focus on your final weeks of training and get your costumes in order!  Thanks for reading my posts and I hope you enjoy all of the pictures!  Happy New Year!!!
